RoadReadyThe idea in plain language
Naming a sign and recognising it from its meaning exercise different recall tasks.
Start with the reason behind the idea. Reading it once can create familiarity; explaining it in a different example is a better way to check what you understood.
What to notice
Start with a description rather than a picture.
Describe the information you have, and name anything that remains uncertain. Avoid filling in the missing part just because the situation looks familiar.
A useful response
Choose the sign and explain its distinctive detail.
| Stage | What to focus on | Your check |
|---|---|---|
| Notice | Start with a description rather than a picture. | What information is available? |
| Explain | Naming a sign and recognising it from its meaning exercise different recall tasks. | Can I explain the reason? |
| Choose | Choose the sign and explain its distinctive detail. | What would I verify first? |

Choose a small example of your own. Explain the clue, the reason and the response in that order, then make a note of what you would check with an official source or instructor.
